8. ITALY: Cassidy Civet – Da Vinci

“Da Vinci”
Performed by: Cassidy Civet (Nash Milani)
Music by: Cassidy Civet
Lyrics by: Cassidy Civet

Cassidy Civet is a dual Italian-Canadian citizen, and pop singer.

In their own words:
This song is the very definition of home composed, with the instrumental being made on their iPad and the vocals being recorded in Audacity. While Cassidy does have some music out online, it is an expensive and lengthy process, and being such a big Eurovision fan, they jumped at the chance to participate in this edition of the Home Composed Song Contest with a song they’ve been passionate about for a long time. They wrote and composed the entire thing themselves, and also do the vocals!

Lyrics:
Do you think you’re the Prince or something?
Lack the grace to paint the ceiling.
Can’t even serenade,
Can’t write Shakespearean plays.

Always asking if I’m okay,
Lost your mind like Don Quixote.
You’re not the center of the universe.
This Utopia is getting worse.

Chorus:
You break me down,
But then you fix me.
And you do it like da Vinci.
You do it like da Vinci.

Verse:
I see your goals you know.
With help from Galileo.
Martin Luther gets the point across.
Help me with this man, I’m lost.

Your drafts leave a lot to desire,
Enlighten me, take me higher.
I read it from the printing press,
Your lying leaves me breathless.

Chorus:
You break me down,
But then you fix me.
And you do it like da Vinci.
You do it like da Vinci.

Musical Interlude:

Chorus:
You break me down,
But then you fix me,
And you do it like da Vinci.
You do it like da Vinci.

You invent ways,
To make me stay, and you do it everyday,
And you do it like da Vinci.
A renaissance man for me.

You break me down,
Then you fix me,
You fix me,
Like da Vinci.

You invent ways to make stay,
You do it like da Vinci,
Like da Vinci,
da Vinci.
