“Cast The Net On Me”
Performed by: The Jet Set Junta
Music by: Howard Thomas
Lyrics by: Howard Thomas
The song is written about 1984 by a former singer and guitarist with the Jet Set Junta (in one of their many earlier renderings). This song has never previously seen the light of day and was lost until a lockdown enforced rummage unearthed a dusty cassette tape.
“A few liberties with the chord structure and a full band backing later hopefully this is nearer what was originally intended. Either way he has one of his songs in the public domain at last. RIP H.”
We welcome the Jet Set Junta back to the competition and wish them good luck with this song from the past!
Lyrics:
Cast the net on me and slowly let me sink
Back to when my dreams were only heaven sent
Cos’ I’m the kind
Wants a piece of my mind
My time to play
Is now on windy days
My thoughts of the future
Is now a book on the shelf
I’m feeling, I’m falling
Try to turn the page and drink the crowded waste
Keep a working line and look into my eyes
Cos’ I’m the kind
Wants a piece of my mind
My time to play
Is now on windy days
My thoughts of the future
Is now a book on the shelf
I’m feeling, I’m falling
Cos’ I’m the kind
Wants a piece of my mind
My time to play
Is now on windy days
My thoughts of the future
Is now a book on the shelf
I’m feeling, I’m falling
Cast the net on me and slowly let me sink
Back to when my dreams were only heaven sent
