In the end, though, it was another pair of returnees - Swedish twins [[Ylva and Linda]], otherwise known as Onevoice - who ran away with the victory with "Här kommer solen", a song with plenty of Melodifestivalen experience behind it in the shape of songwriters Dan Attlerud and Martin Klaman. Indeed, the runner-up from Germany had also appeared in a Lithuanian national final, again underlining the development of Home Composed from its humble roots nearly two decades ago - and the difficulties of defining what exactly constitutes an "amateur" in the internet age, a question with which the contest would continue to grapple over the years ahead.

Contest overview

The 2009 Home Composed Song Contest was organised by the previous year's winner, Boban Djekić from Serbia.

As in 2007 and 2008, this year's contest had its own dedicated website. Online support was again provided by Radio International, who presented an hour-long programme dedicated to the contest (listen here) and formed their own guest jury, while the contest's website itself also contained a voting feature that was included in the final result. The scoresheet below shows these guest juries at the end, numbered Gj1.png (Radio International) and Gj2.png (Internet).

A total of 25 songs from 20 composing "teams" participated in the 2009 event. Among the nine countries represented was Estonia, making its debut; meanwhile, HCSC veteran Michael Bauer returned after a few years' absence.

In the end, though, it was another pair of returnees - Swedish twins Ylva and Linda, otherwise known as Onevoice - who ran away with the victory with "Här kommer solen", a song with plenty of Melodifestivalen experience behind it in the shape of songwriters Dan Attlerud and Martin Klaman.
