Israel first participated in the Home Composed Song Contest in the inaugural edition in 1991 and was most recently represented in the 2011 edition.

The best result achieved by an Israeli entry was second place, an honour that went to Y. Sapir's "The Horsemen" in 1991 and Alon Shanni's "Ulay efrach" in 1998.
