Final Revelation and Interval 3

  • And our grand finale writers are revealed... - Harrow - 2006-08-06 7:00:57pm
    • Some huge surprises. And whoever this Chris guy is - you're brilliant...as for Paranoia... - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:08:06pm

methink we may be seeing a repeat

      :-)))

      • I think I'll refer to him as His Royal Highness King Chris!! [R] - Sild - 2006-08-06 7:11:35pm
        • (blushes) - ChrisMcr - 2006-08-06 7:30:29pm

I'm so chuffed with all the nice comments you've all given me... made up for the Chiara-Angel fiasco last year.

Y'know, I might have the courage to 'come out' on this MB now, and admit my Eurovision addiction.

          • But of course! :o) - Sild - 2006-08-06 7:33:23pm

            "Mucky puppy" is a masterpiece!!

            • one of my favourites !!! ;)) [R] - Lota - 2006-08-06 7:34:52pm
      • Well done Jeremy - like your entries a lot! - Did you have a fling with Sakis, or his ghost-like girlfriend? [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 7:12:30pm
        • Thx mate.....hahaha....can't say I had either re: Sakis :-))) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:13:22pm
          • That must have been the un-straightest entry ever of a straight guy ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 7:15:56pm

... I'm glad I was right about your other entry, though.

All you can learn about ALC within a year and put it into one entry. Fab!

A must on the Tesco album, I hope you agree ...

            • I know...LOL....thought I'd "gay" it up a bit :-))) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:17:10pm
            • Thomas :) - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 7:19:14pm

"My grand prix" is a masterpiece :))

              • Indeed! I'm glad to be left out for Thomas and Frank :-))) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:20:29pm
                • Do you think we can answer Thomas' question now :) [R] - Frank - 2006-08-06 7:22:57pm
                  • LOL!!! Yeah, go ahead :-)) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:27:16pm
              • Okay, here is a confession about "My Grand Prix" that might get me disqualified ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 7:33:04pm

... I already told you that I "wrote" it in just one hour without changing it around afterwards.

Truth is, that it was written by Nicole herself (that's why Harrow put her picture in).

The statements (which I thought would be published, but I was wrong):

"I have a shocking confession to make: I actually did not write this entry. It was our one and only Nicole's creative spirit that came over me one night and used me as a humble tool to express her thoughts

To be honest with you, Nicole is hardly surprised that she has reached the final, as she is well aware of the fact that her opinion on the development of her "Grand Prix" represents the huge majority of fans, but she told me to say "thank you" nevertheless. So I still have to wait for my first qualifier ... next year!"

                Harrow, you'll get new stuff ... ;)

                • Such a "you" thing to say. You don't take credit for the one entry that qualified :-)) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:36:33pm
                • Someone get an exorcist! NOW!! :) [R] - Frank - 2006-08-06 7:37:11pm
                • I just wonder why it took her so long to realise she was a better songwriter than Siegel! [R] - juliejWHAMBAMBOOM!!!! - 2006-08-06 8:38:32pm
    • God, was I right, was I wrong! [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 7:11:13pm
      • Ok, now I can ask... - Fulingen - >=) - 2006-08-06 7:35:53pm

Still madly and deeply in love with me? Or was it just something uttered while consuming grappa (airplane petrol)? And don't pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about, I saw those comments! =))

Just kidding, I just wanted to say a big Thank you for your warm comments on "La vache", I'm glad someone else than me liked it! =)

        • I did like it too, a lot :) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 7:42:04pm
    • Thomas it is official - I am in love with you!!! [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 7:12:53pm
      • Oh, I'm flattered ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 7:29:17pm

... and I'm pleased to find out that you are behind quite a remarkable entry, too!

This is what I wrote to Harrow when I showered it with points in the semi ;):

Song No. 19 "Gay Teen Life" - now this is special. I'm not really into gay themes (even though I could not resist to get lost in one, too), but this comes across as totally heartfelt and sincere and I have to confess it really touched me. It might not really work at times, rhythm-wise, but a lot of effort was put into these lyrics, I'm sure, and it is by far the best attempt to write a "serious" entry so far. Again, very difficult to guess. Something tells me that it could be Niall, it would not surprise me if he came up with such an ambitious debut entry...

        • Now you flatter me sir! It was heartfelt - but my mother was not a gin-swilling lousy mother - God rest her soul! [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 7:32:40pm
    • Jeremy! :) - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 7:15:16pm

I guessed "Hertz", and "He's the host" is really fun to sing :)))
      Well done :)

      • Awwww...thx mate, and you do both oh-so well :-))) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:17:41pm
        • :-)))) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 7:23:51pm
    • Hehe, Rich and Roger's entries were obvious to me... - Jonas - 2006-08-06 7:15:38pm

I did think Yair was the author of ALC-Nation, but it makes total sense that it's Frank :)

would never have guessed Carly's two entries.

And Aviad being the author of "Generacija"... I so should have seen that coming! hehe

And Fulingen once again coming up with the entry that differs the most from the rest :) (In a good way though!)

      • I figured you out too :) - RogerF - 2006-08-06 7:24:36pm

Also guessed Carly was behind Forgotten and got Aviad (very obvious)and Fulingen's right too.

        • Aviad's other entry was obvious, yes... - Jonas - 2006-08-06 7:26:15pm

Although I thought it might be a bit too obvious to be true though :)

What gave me away, btw? ;)

          • Rafael was as obvious as Paranoia [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:27:46pm
          • haha, must be my intuition ;) - RogerF - 2006-08-06 7:33:01pm

I had Save The Pigs and B & K down as probable Jonas as well :) Also thought Song on Speed sounded very you ;)

    • I think carly... - Yair - 2006-08-06 7:16:10pm

Might end up seeing both ends of the scoreboard!

      • No way... - Jonas - 2006-08-06 7:18:00pm

Neither is bad enough to place last :)

        • My guess is that last place will be a direct finalist...can't predict beyond that :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:19:55pm
          • What a risky guess ;-) [R] - Jonas - 2006-08-06 7:21:11pm
            • Int it? [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:24:49pm
      • LOL.... [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:18:12pm
    • Richard_CT !!! - Lota - 2006-08-06 7:40:02pm

      thank you for 'Everything' :))
      my non-participant douze ;))

      • Thanks, Lota! - Richard_CT - 2006-08-06 7:47:00pm

To be honest, though, it's really about my BF... who'd have to get by on pizza and Doritos if I wasn't around to cook!

  • ALC Intro to Chernobyl, Opening Ceremony, Semi 1 Draw and revealing of semi 1 - Harrow - Fraulein Deutschland - 2006-07-08 12:40:48pm
    • So there *will* be a live draw? Cool! :o)) [R] - Alexander-NL - 2006-07-08 12:42:57pm
    • Site's working fine for me BTW. :o) [R] - Alexander-NL - 2006-07-08 12:47:32pm

      Plagiarism!
      :-)

      • We have a host too :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-07-08 1:01:34pm
        • Oh... let me guess... - LoboinMadrid - 2006-07-08 1:02:47pm

          Levitra, Cialis and Viagra?
          :-)

          • Much more effective ;) [R] - Harrow - 2006-07-08 1:14:57pm
            • LOL!! :)) [R] - Yair - 2006-07-08 1:34:34pm

Halfway through the entries for ALC semi 1, few minor changes to the opening ceremony needed, and then we're good to go! - Harrow - 2006-07-08 2:45:26pm

  • Don't understand why the semi 1 songs are released so *late* - carly in lund - 2006-07-08 3:00:50pm

some of us have to get up tomorrow morning! And no way I'm waiting to read them all, hehe.

    ;)

    • They come out on Sunday. Not a minute earlier :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-07-08 3:02:00pm
      • bah! but that's 1 AM over here..... *whine* [R] - carly in lund - 2006-07-08 3:05:19pm
        • Is Sweden not CET? Well you have a week to vote :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-07-08 3:09:42pm
          • oh, is it midnight CET? I thought it was midnight your time. This is what I get for not reading things properly ;-) [R] - carly in lund - 2006-07-08 3:11:26pm
  • Let the Show begin. - Harri - Finnish Schlager Swede - 2006-07-08 3:05:58pm

Who cares about Dr. Who finale?

We're all here to have fun!! OK the moment we have all been waiting for is coming closer... Good luck!

    ;-)))

    • I second all these thoughts. ;o) [R] - Alexander-NL - 2006-07-08 3:06:37pm
      • Thanks Alex! ;-) - Harri - Finnish Schlager Swede - 2006-07-08 3:10:26pm

And may I say that your *Estonian Cowgirl* title seems like an attractive option for some of us?

Did you actually be last in 2005?

        ;-)))

        • Attractive? Why? lol - Alexander-NL - 2006-07-08 3:14:34pm

Well, I was directly placed in the final and yes in the final I was last. So I was kind of like Knut, Gracia and Fabrizio. :o) Technically I did leave songs behind that didn't pass the semi-finals. ;o))

          • Wow, you have really... - Harri - Finnish Schlager Swede - 2006-07-08 3:21:25pm

            ... achieved something! ;-))

By finishing last you have proven that you are unique. *Estonian Cowgirl* is almost as known as the winner of 2005 today.

I find it attractive. Eternal Fame and Shame forgives everything!!!

            LOL! ;-))))

            • lol! ;o)) Thanks Harri, you're very sweet! :o) [R] - Alexander-NL - 2006-07-08 3:26:07pm

And after the finale revelation, stay tuned for the 21:00 interval act...
Posted by Yair on 2006-08-06 7:02:44pm

It'll be worth waiting for. ;)

  • It so is!!! [R] - Frank - 2006-08-06 7:14:35pm

So no-one really fanced my ALC entry ? :-)
Posted by kURt B on 2006-08-06 7:03:48pm

Hehe...:-) I know Je t'adollelujah was just a bad first attempt...

Congrats to those who did well anyway.
(and the nonqualifiers too of course)

  • I gave you... - Lota - 2006-08-06 7:08:15pm

10 pts, but I'm non participant...

    • Why thanks, Lota. :-) [R] - kURt B - 2006-08-06 7:09:09pm
  • Kurt, I gave you 7 points :-))) But as I'm not participating my vote counted minimally :-( [R] - Ben NL - 2006-08-06 7:12:40pm

    • Jeez, thanks Jordi & Ben. :-)) [R] - kURt B - 2006-08-06 7:14:26pm
  • Liked it Kurt, and I gave it points too :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:16:10pm
  • kurt, you didn't vote in the final, did you? Cos I never received any votes [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-06 7:17:29pm
    • No. - kURt B - 2006-08-06 7:24:15pm

I have been away to my family for a few days and haven't been on the internet at all...

I suppose it's all too late now to vote?

      • 'Fraid so, just checking :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-06 7:29:03pm

God it is taking me forever to get through the final revelation - but Thomas I was bang on the money with you....
Posted by Luke on 2006-08-06 7:29:39pm

....the only other one I was sure of was Yair's Paranoia - the ignorance about Slovenia was such a giveaway! :-)))

  • Save the kittens, save the kittens, save the kittens! - Yair - 2006-08-06 7:35:45pm

I was completely wrong about you, though...

    • Mine was the cheapest song to make the final, I didn't think it could have been any more obvious! LOL :-))) [R] - Luke - 2006-08-06 7:38:12pm
      • Don't knock 'Inflatable' - hilarious - my better-half loved it too!! [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 7:46:50pm
    • Pigs, not kittens!! :-) [R] - Jonas - 2006-08-06 8:11:08pm

So nobody got 3 entries into the final - but 8 people got 2 entries through
Posted by David in Hull on 2006-08-06 7:39:49pm

But especially well done to Chris MCR, Nick D and Jeremy - who all got two songs through the semi-finals!

  • Ta David :-))) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:40:44pm
  • I got 1 from 1 though - that's a 100% record, isn't it?! LOL :-))) [R] - Luke - 2006-08-06 7:43:05pm
  • Is there an HTML link of the final authors, btw? [R] - Yair - 2006-08-06 7:43:31pm
    • http://www.partyvision.co.uk/alc2006/f/writers.html [R] - Timoteus - 2006-08-06 7:44:56pm
      • kiitos [R] - Yair - 2006-08-06 7:50:35pm
  • It seems... - Timoteus - 2006-08-06 7:44:42pm

...I got the closest to have three. Woohoo. \o/ Chris was very close too.

  • :-) I really don't know how that happened... - ChrisMcr - 2006-08-06 7:46:22pm

I only wanted to do better than my 16th in the semi last year.

I'm lucky 'Hard Cock' didn't make it too, or I'd be *really* embarrassed.

    • Aw it was so sweet when you said: - Harrow - 2006-08-06 7:47:38pm

"Actually, I'm a bit embarrassed by the success of 'Mucky Puppy' and 'Really Really Gay'... as a bit of a MB reader rather than contributor, I feel a bit cheeky that this has happened. I hope it's not too much of a disappointment for everyone when they find out two of the songs in the final weren't written by a famous MB regular... it's not really fair."

      • Well, it's not... I'm just an MB stalker, silently watching in the shadows. [R] - ChrisMcr - 2006-08-06 7:48:53pm
        • Well come out of the shadows then! :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-06 7:50:04pm
          • (blushes again)... - ChrisMcr - 2006-08-06 7:51:46pm

            I suppose I can't hide anymore, can I?

            • If your entries can't make you famous, that pink bra woulda done the job quite nicely :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:53:48pm
      • Sweet guy indeed. Hope this pushes him into MB noteriety and he sticks around. Rachel and Joseph too :-)) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:50:01pm
      • Both of your songs managed .... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 7:57:03pm

... to make me give points to themes I usually ignore!

And "Really, Really Gay" is pure comedy ... the things I imagined while singing it! Unforgettable ...

        • RRG is a pure masterpiece! [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:59:20pm
        • I so loved 'My Grand Prix' too... - ChrisMcr - 2006-08-06 8:14:22pm

I can't wait for the voting to be revealed... might make feel better for all this love you guys are sending my way.

  • And I hafta thank Roger for all that free publicity with his photo n' all :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:47:21pm
    • hehe, you're welcome :-D [R] - RogerF - 2006-08-06 7:50:01pm
      • Sophie Carle was great :)) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 7:55:29pm
        • aw, thanks :) - RogerF - 2006-08-06 7:57:04pm

Glad someone likes it. I don't expect it to score very well though! :)

  • Which means - I could, theoretically, finish 18th and still have automatic qualification next year! [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 8:30:33pm

Fulingen!
Posted by Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! on 2006-08-06 7:52:23pm

    I'll have Pete D, then ;)
Who's he, btw? Don't think I've seen him posting in here :)

              • *scared* ;)) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 8:14:54pm

  • [PL]! - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 7:55:28pm

    [So happy for you]

    :-]

  • Well that's great to hear! =)) [R] - Fulingen - 2006-08-06 7:57:44pm

Time to thank those who were involved in this interval act project that made the entire ALC hosting worthwhile

Frank - who wrote all of the Bavarian lyrics and a big part of the English. I always admired him as an author, but was afrait to co-write with him, because our styles are so different. Our work together proved I had nothing to worry about!

LoboinMadrid - After writing the text we were stuck without a backing track, and Angel saved the day - and dared to produced an even better track, fron scratch!

Jonas and AndreasS - who tried to help me finding a backing track. Thanks for trying guys :)

Harrow - for his inspiring Oktoberfest obsession...

And my favourite knee-swinging band, The Tescos! For knowing how to make something serious out of something silly and fun - and vice versa ;)

And of course the video and production team that worked with them.

Can't wait for the album release myself!

  • This will be a tough act to follow! [R] - Richard_CT - 2006-08-06 8:34:28pm
  • I think Thomas needs to introduce us properly to the other members :-) [R] - Jonas - 2006-08-06 8:34:51pm
  • How rude! And you missed one :) - Harrow - 2006-08-06 8:37:26pm

Yair!!!! Thanks for organising it, and keeping it secret, it was great fun not to know what was going on, as I've told you before :)

Put me down for a signed copy or 10, should make me a fortune on Ebay :)

  • Indeed, wonderful job :)) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 8:42:21pm
  • I can only wholehartedly second that! - Frank - 2006-08-06 8:46:00pm

It was amazing (damn you Maria for spoiling the word) and extremely fun and satisfying to work on it all, to see all the pieces come together and fit and to witness everyone coming up with even more and better.

Thomas, that first row at the opening gala of the Tescos tour is ours!! :))

very amazing your lyrics contest ;) what will be the next contest you will organize here? - victor-barcelona - 2006-08-06 8:41:33pm

ALC rules!

Thomas, Yair, Harrow, Lobo, Frank, you guys rock!

And poor Jonas (Barbie and Ken), Nick (Pasema) and Laura Malice (J' t'adore)and Roger (SuperTroll) for not making the final...

Go my faves in the final!!

  • I'm into porn ;) - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 8:58:03pm

Sorry you didn't make the final, but, well done to you too, Geert ;))

    • That's ok, I'm not too professional in it and I do realise it ;) [R] - Geert - 2006-08-06 9:01:46pm
      • LOL! ;)) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 9:07:28pm
  • If the voting had been about best intros you would have scored even better with "Granny"... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 9:05:07pm

... love it, love it, love it. But I'm sure you already noticed, I've posted it more than once.

    • Thanks; hehe :))) - Geert - 2006-08-06 9:08:44pm

I'm just very photographic in things, when writing something, I have the singer in mind, like Anna Vissi, a delerious old woman desperately trying to be young and hip while she's obviously just an old hag who doesn't realise everyone knows she is... And Tina Karol, well, she's just gotten porn star written all over her!

And in my defence on Elena Anthem! It was not trying to copy What kind of ban at all. In fact, it was submitted for last year's ALC, but since I suddenly went to Turkey for my summer job and wouldn't have been able to vote, I withdrew it, and since Harrow still had it, it competed this year :)

      • Nevermind, Yair, who knows all and everything, had already explained that to shocked me! ;) [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 9:16:03pm
  • hehe thanks, but I was happy just to make a top 10 :) [R] - RogerF - 2006-08-06 9:24:47pm
    • Di di da was robbed! - Frank - 2006-08-06 9:42:36pm

A very clever idea and so very well done!

      • well - RogerF - 2006-08-06 10:02:43pm

I knew it was a bit of a risk, being something of a different idea. So am happy it didn't come too low. I choose to think it was too intelligent for some people ;-)

        • No risk, no fun :) - Frank - 2006-08-06 10:06:45pm

I was annoyed at being robbed of one of my candidats for the full mark in the final though! Baaaaad people :)))

Okay, by Jonas' demand, here is a link to some words about the Tescos ...

was away for the past few days, with no internet access so wasn't able to do my bitter non-qualifying message (or a saucy cowboy photo of myself - needless to say, I bear a striking resemblence to Jake Gyllenhaal in BB Mountain..! ;) ).

Cheers to Ade for the points- muchly appreciated, and a bloody relief not to be on "nul", also especial congratulations to those who got more!!

And obviously I'd have two entries in the final if it wasn't for the rampant homophobia which is sadly rife on this messageboard. Maybe in future, it would be nicer if people didn't vent their pent-up, closeted sexuality on poor ol' Texan cowboys and instead just voted for traditional ALC values such as "fit" and "singalongability"...

  • But then plenty of other gay-themed entries went thru.... - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 9:59:02pm

    ...even my own

That said, BB was fabulous, so be very proud of it

    :-)

    • Hmm ... isn't it ironic? ;) [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 9:59:45pm
      • LOL....very :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 10:01:25pm
    • Sorry, that was meant to be my "bitter not getting through comment" - Pete D - 2006-08-06 10:02:42pm

and not meant to be serious - does it come across as overly bitter??

Cheers!! - but BB Twist is by no means the best gay one, imho ;)

      • <Sigh of relief> ... Jeremy managed to confuse me for a second or so ... but just! - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 10:04:50pm

It was definitely the very best "gay-ish" entry. My comment on that one to Harrow:

Song No. 5: "Brokeback Twist" - again, a great concept, more from the "Chernobyl" chapter, nicely executed and truly matching the song - but not the melody. With a little souling and rock'n rolling, it works okay, though. Very mainstream, very commercial, that's the way I like it. Is it Niall? Might be too obvious ...

        • Cheers!! :) [R] - Pete D - 2006-08-06 10:30:27pm
      • I thought "rampant homophobia" made it a bit obvious :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-06 10:05:21pm
        • No smiley...was hard to tell :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 10:10:09pm
        • I thought the bit about asking people just to judge on the "fit" in future was also a bit of a giveaway?? [R] - Pete D - 2006-08-06 10:10:18pm
          • I was going to answer "But that's what us traditionalists did" :)) [R] - Frank - 2006-08-06 10:11:54pm
  • Well I liked it :-) - Nigel-Murat'sMBpartner - 2006-08-06 10:03:50pm

Especially since I bear an unncanny resemblance to Heath Ledger ;o)

I did struggle to make the words fit with the tune at times though...

How are you matey? Will we be seeing you at Retro on Thursday?

Right - I've just come back from a film-shoot today (lots of fun) and have a portion of Ben & Jerry's in front of me...

  • So you're the one ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 10:43:23pm

... <taking a deep bow while longing for another spoonful of that tasty moussaka>

    • I didn't think it would qualify, to be honest :-) [R] - [PL]Mission Impossible 08 - 2006-08-06 11:14:54pm
      • I hope Yair won't mind that I quote what I wrote him tonight ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:19:18pm

"Oh ... PL! Isn't it irresistible if talent and modesty are living next door to each other?"

And this was my comment to Harrow voting in semi 1:

Song No. 5 "The Tasty Moussaka" ... this is ALC heaven - based on an almost forgotten song (I'm not a freak!), a theme out of nowhere (and it's definitely not another fridge song) and a synthesis of melody, lyrics and vocal style which not only manages to bring tears of laughter to one's eyes but at the same time is so appetizing that you just long for that Moussaka even if you're not into that kind of food at all. Great build, perceptible love for each little detail - it could be this year's "What Kind Of Ban", but hopefully it will do a lot better. And it could be the beginning of a new marketing trend - recipes set to music! Fantastic. Who is behind it? Difficult ... someone both intellectual and sensitive, carly, perhaps? But I would not completely rule out Yair either.

        Now I know!!!

        • LOL! What a great comment :-) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 11:21:29pm
        • Check the schedule, is that better now? :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-06 11:21:54pm
        • *blush* - [PL]Mission Impossible 08 - 2006-08-06 11:29:08pm

Wow... you silenced me there - but with a big smile on my face :-)

          Thanks!

And Yair and Jeremy, thx to you too for your comments :-)

          • I just love to rave about that entry ... [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:30:49pm
          • The comments during the *mute period* of ALC were great too, by the way! :-) [R] - [PL]Mission Impossible 08 - 2006-08-06 11:30:52pm
            • ... but you must have noticed some of us were commenting on your entry! - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:34:09pm

And in a very favourable way ...

              • Aah yes, but maybe that was a small clique :-) - [PL]Mission Impossible 08 - 2006-08-06 11:39:36pm

I was worried whether I would manage to scrape the top 6, because it was soooo hard - the level in Semi 1 is fiendishly high.

Anyway, hugz - it gives me lots of warm feelings all round :-)

                • One of the reasons the level in semi 1 was so high was your entry, though ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:47:54pm

... well, you noticed my concern that it could turn into another "What Kind Of Ban", but I can't imagine, even after the "false start" tonight ;)

                  • WKOB came top10!! - Frank - 2006-08-06 11:50:13pm

And I didn't even have to vote for it for it to do so :)

In the words of La Sakis "Anything can happen"! :))

                    • Sure ... but just top 10 wouldn't do "Moussaka" justice ;) [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:53:10pm
                  • By the way the Tescos video - [PL]TV HoD - 2006-08-06 11:51:12pm

                    It's fucking amazing!
And by the sounds of it you're quite a good singer too! I might have to visit your karaoke nights really soon! :-))

                    • You're always welcome! - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:53:59pm

There will be a Tesco showcase later that year, with lots of ALC cover versions! I'll keep you posted ...

                      • One final question though, before I go to bed... - [PL]TV HoD - 2006-08-06 11:58:12pm

What entry did you think I wrote when I said "Woohoo" if you made a list of descriptions of entries that would receive your points. At a certain moment you said: Ah yes, hard to spot you... as a reply to my 'Woohoo'

If you still remember, that is...

                        • I remember, yes, but I had no idea about your entries at all! - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-07 12:04:34am

But I remember I made a not so friendly remark about "neighbours" when someone thought Yair would have written it ... LOL.

You certainly got a varied style, young man!

And now, before you go to bed, how did you come up with "Moussaka"? Must have been a moment of magic to get the idea, leave alone writing it!

                          • Well, neighbours was really the very last song entered in this year's ALC! - [PL]TV HoD - 2006-08-07 12:16:40am

I started to write it 40 minutes before deadline and finished it 30 secs before ending it - Actually the email-stamp cleared it 10 secs past midnight :-)

And I wanted two entries this year, because of my early exit last year. And as I said - I didn't think it would do top-6-well, that it was more for the ALC-connaisseurs (ahum) who really took their time going through all the entries. So, that's why I went for an easier, more wide-appeal and old-skool ALC-entry in Neighbours. I liked the line "It won't matter what you tell, we will remember well", as it refers to one ex-yugo spokeswoman.

Anyway... Moussaka - it really began with "Tomm eo d'ho" - Tomato and from there it slowly (very slowly) evolved into a recipe "with tomato" which could be placed in the oven.
I tried to find as much simillies as possible - and made sure that threefourty °F is actually used for cooking :-)

I dunno, I think it will prove to be a one-stroke luck - not a consistent record like Yair's or Fulingen's for instance ;-)

                            • And that last line ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-07 12:18:17am

... no, I'm sure you will do it again! It's inevitable.

  • I came home 1 hour ago from a swim and even i am sunburnt i take a look at the revelation shows - orionas - 2006-08-06 10:53:01pm

I just knew Hertz was Jeremy's entry!.

    • Yes you did :-) I remember your post (and Thomas'...and quite a few others). I tried so hard to lie [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 10:54:56pm
      • I know! I even said i knew it was yours but i remembered you said once - orionas - 2006-08-06 10:55:51pm

that your entry was not discussed in the MB! You lier!!!

        • And how did you feel when I called "I Had Sex In A Van" the catchiest line in ALC? ;) - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 10:58:14pm

I was surprised about your entries, they certainly showed a new side of Orionas ;)

          • It felt really good! It's nice to be acknowledged! - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:01:11pm

And for a 10 hours work i had sex in a van did good! I'm very pleased with the outcome!

            • Now tell me ... - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:02:06pm

... did you? And with whom? ;)

              • No! It's not an autobiographical entry! - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:03:37pm

i repeat! it's not an autobiographical entry!

                • To be investigated ... [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:05:01pm
                  • That will not be a problem! Do investigate! [R] - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:07:50pm
                    • LOL ... how on earth did you come up with such a story then? What a fox you are! ;) [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:11:30pm
                      • You two flirts! Can I sit in the front seat of the van and watch - (I'm not into dogging really) [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 11:13:49pm
                        • What a crazy eurovision fan you are! [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:15:43pm
                          • Says him, now famous for waving white sausages in the air!! LOL! [R] - David in Hull - 2006-08-06 11:17:06pm
                      • Well - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:16:55pm

i was writing Water Polo and i was thinking of my 3rd entry and i wanted to write a song i like and i know the music really well.EWTIC came to my mind, the word van then came to my mind and then the line "i had sex in a van".
Van rhymes with fan. Eurovision fan came to my mind and then i knew what the story should tell. But it was a hard one to write. Really difficult to match the music with the lyrics! Some will probably think that it doesn't go well with the music but the way i sing it (the pauses etc etc) it does!

                        • I sure had fun singing it! [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:20:15pm
                          • And i had - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:22:11pm

a lot of fun writing it! That's why i think ALC was a really good experience. I had a lot of fun writing the entries and of course reading all the others!

                            • Well, that's what it is for! - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:25:42pm

Even if I had not qualified, I would be as passionate about it next year as I was this year ... ;)

                              • The same here! - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:28:32pm

And of course congratulations on your qualification to the final! Well done my favorite fan!

                                • Thanks ... I was quite surprised, as I got caught up in a chiara-angel threesome with that one ... [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:29:37pm
                                  • I enjoyed - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:33:08pm

all 3 of them to tell the truth. they were well written. I wasn't surprised at all that 2 of them got to the final.

      • Well done Jeremy - I NEVER would've guessed - at least I can't remember if I guessed it was you who wrote it :-) [R] - [PL]Mission Impossible 08 - 2006-08-06 11:14:04pm
        • Thx mate....2u2. Great recipe too :-)) [R] - Jeremy - 2006-08-06 11:20:01pm

    • Well done, Orionas :) - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 11:14:53pm

      "Water Polo" was FAB :))

      • Thanx a lot!!! - orionas - 2006-08-06 11:20:17pm

Even though i think Solo was the easiest to write lyrics from the ones i chose (i chose 4 and then sent 3, i had also written AL for If we all give a little with the title I will do her a little! Again sex-entry!)

      • jortsu!! Thx for lending us your voice - some entries got a lot clearer and funnier just by you singing them!! [R] - [PL]Mission Impossible 08 - 2006-08-06 11:41:17pm
        • Aww... How sweet of you to say that, thank you Paul :)) - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 11:49:03pm

And well done, "The tasky Moussaka" is a really charming entry, loved it :)

          • Rude sex has never sounded that sensual before! [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-06 11:54:33pm
            • LOL! ;))) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-06 11:56:57pm
              • But seriously - maybe it's a possible new feature that one person sings a small part of the entry - [PL]TV HoD - 2006-08-07 12:00:42am

It really makes it easier and funnier to listen to!

                • Agree! Some only really come alive when sung! [R] - Frank - 2006-08-07 12:02:23am
                  • But that's what - hopefully - we all do! [R] - Thomas ... eh bien, zut alors! - 2006-08-07 12:07:04am
                • True :) - Jortsu - 2006-08-07 12:10:21am

I normally sing the songs for "myself" before sending my points. But having to record them for Harrow and making them more "seriously" (in a way) made me appreciate some songs that I didn't really pay much attention before, sounds weird but it's true ;))

                • Well me and Jordi certainly had fun (that first attempt at Llama particularly) ;) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-07 12:14:16am
                  • How rude, again! ;)) - Jortsu - 2006-08-07 12:15:18am

                    ROFL!!! ;)))

                    • We could have some AL outtakes :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-07 12:17:35am
                      • No please! ;)) - Jortsu - 2006-08-07 12:21:49am

I'm already embarrased enough about my English accent, imagine how I'd feel when it's pronounced totally wrong like "Llama" (Spanish way), LOL ;)
Now seriously, mate, it was real fun working with you, I miss our mail exchange :))

                        • it aint over til it's over! And you can still email me, ya know! :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-07 12:27:06am
                          • You too :)) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-07 12:30:01am
                        • Yamma Yamma Yamma :)) [R] - Frank - 2006-08-07 12:49:17am
                          • LMAO!!! Indeed! ;))) [R] - Jortsu - 2006-08-07 12:52:23am

I was impressed by My Darling :)))
That was one hell of a AL :)))

*mwah* You have quite a unique taste, dear... Now back to sleep for me :))) [R] - Yair - 2006-08-06 11:21:55pm
  • Doesn't Lane Moje loosely translate as My Darling? :) [R] - Harrow - 2006-08-06 11:24:09pm
    • Just to stop any recurring discussions. Lane Moje has 4 syllables!!!! :))) [R] - Frank - 2006-08-06 11:29:43pm

I'm afraid I have to say good night ... pleasant dreams, my loves!

And remember what is considered as eternal wisdom here in Bavaria: dreaming of a weißwurst means eternal virility!

In other words:

A weißwurst a day will keep viagra away.
