Norway first participated in the Home Composed Song Contest in 1997 and was most recently represented in the 2023 edition.

Norway won the 1997 edition of the contest with "Min lengsel" by Roy Vorland, who also took third place in the same contest. It then notched up a second victory with Gunnar B. Ingebrigtsen's "Hold Me, Lord" in 2022 - a song that also featured Roy on vocals.

Many of the other Norwegian entries are attributable to Danish composer Tony Olsen, who decided to represent Norway for several years.
