Contest overview

The 2017 Home Composed Song Contest was hosted by the previous year's winner, Bo Söderholm from Finland, and organised by Bo along with the recently formed HCSC Organising Committee.

After one disqualification, a total of 14 entries participated in the competition. As usual, the participant votes were supplemented by a public internet vote, represented by Gj1.png in the voting table below. This year, an expert jury was also provided by Sugar House Publishing from Vaasa, Finland, represented by Gj2.png in the voting table below.

The votes were nicely spread out, with no fewer than nine of the 14 entries receiving at least one maximum "douze points" score. On his return to the competition after several years' absence, Eduard Alexogiannopoulos representing Greece ultimately took the first prize, making it two wins in three participations. It was a close victory in the end, with debutant Asla Osprey from Finland finishing not far behind in second place. Spain's Alfonso Daniel completed the podium, achieving his best result to date in the main competition.

The full voting show can still be viewed on YouTube.
